U10's GREENS Match Reports

28-09-2008    Irish take the sparkle out of the gold!!

After a couple of frustrating weeks the Irish finally got their league campaign up and running.

The boys flew out of the trap with Foster making his league debut with a fantastic long range effort, at this point the movement and passing was too good for the hosts and it wasn’t long before the Irish doubled there lead.

Credit to Greetland though they upped their game and looked dangerous on the attack but with the defensive partnership of Kendall and Moxon snuffing everything out leaving Jayden a mere spectator in goal.

After several chances going begging, the hosts managed to reply making the score line 2-1. Irish didn’t just sit back though they played some beautiful football with long range chances coming from Janzeb and the driving force of McGregor and Foster playing excellently on the outside the boys just kept on creating chance after chance and with Kendall firing his long range shots it was just a case of who is going to score the next goal.

At this point the manager reshuffled the pack bringing on Place, Hoskett and Thomas this proving that the Irish have a fantastic squad as the play wasn’t interrupted in the slightest

Half Time: 2-1

After some encouraging words from the manager the Irish’s philosophy of pass and move was at the for front with Kendall and Moxon solid at the back this lead to a solid platform for the rest of the team to play their excellent football, Foster and Place linking up on several occasions leaving some dangerous crosses into the box, finally Thomas was there to pounce and effectively finish the game as a contest.

Final Score: 3- 1

After Match Comment: After last weeks resounding cup fixture all the hard work that has been put in through out the summer from the manager and all his players is a joy to see them play with such composure and a bit more belief and that killer instinct this season could prove a fruitful one.

MOM 2pts – Jayden Rice – a bit controversial you must get plaudits for sitting on your bottom in Greetland, but never the less well done!

MOM 1pt – Reece Kendall – Another excellent performance following on from last week, with a calm and professional attitude Reece played like a true captain.

Well Done Boys!!!!

14/09/2008 Boothtown Battered!

Boothtown were lambs to the slaughter as the Irish set about cementing their place in the 2nd round of the cup, with captain Reece setting the ball rolling with a thunder bolt 40 yard shot, quickly followed up with a 2nd.

Irish continued for the rest of the 1st half creating chance after chance totally demoralising the visitors.

Boothtown had no answer to the pace of McGegor and the mazy runs and skills of Hoskett in midfield, this lead to further goals from Janzeb and Thomas.

Kendall and Larry having an easy time at the back they were able to join into the midfield play, this swamping Boothtown into a 7-0 half time lead.

Half Time 7-0

To the visitors credit they came out battling and never let their heads go down with Moxon back in the defensive partnership with Kendall, the opponents had no chance.

Foster, Place and Hoskett providing plenty of ammunition for McGregor and Thomas to pepper the Boothtown goal only for the stand in keeper to keep Irish at bay.

Boothtown with their no die attitude kept on pushing and managed to score a well deserved goal.

The Irish proved that team work pays off and the goals just kept on coming.

Full Time:9-1

After match thought: An excellent first match performance and the season looks interesting to say the least.

New signing Foster blending in nicely and the football was lovely on the eye.

MOM 2pts – Joel Hoskett – On his day Joel can beat anyone with his trickery, an excellent individual performance.

MOM 1pt- Reece Kendall – A solid captain's performance uncompromising in the tackle and always a danger with his left foot.

Well Done Boys!!
