The Greens were one of only a handful of teams that played over the weekend due to the local council cancelling games because of waterlogged pitches.
A strong Crossley Juniors who had only tasted defeat once this season were the visitors to the Wembley of South Halifax.
Early exchanges in the first half were even & both teams played a good passing game on a slick surface. Jonjoe & Billy showed their no nonsense attitude with some strong challenges during the early stages. It was Crossley who gained the upper hand in the later stages of the first half & only some brilliant goalkeeping from Jack Ward kept the Greens in the game. Jack Wheelan & Ethan made some strong runs from midfield but they were unfortunate to come up against a strong Crossley defence. After several continuous corners Crossley took the lead to give them a halftime one nil advantage.

With players tiring on the large pitch the Greens manager made some changes at half time to give some of the players a well earned rest. Crossleys came out all guns blazing in the second period & scored two goals in the first few minuets despite attempts from Oliver, Niall & Ben who battled well in midfield. The home side looked out of sorts & Crossley began to penetrate the defence with strong runs from midfield. The Greens like always were giving 100% effort but they couldn’t keep the opposition out. Jack Ward made more brilliant saves but Crossleys eventually scored four other goals later in the game as their superior size began to take it toll on tired but committed Greens.
