Message from the Chairman - Andy Bowers
Blowing our own trumpet
What a fabulous twelve months we’ve had. I also think it’s time for us as a club to pat ourselves on the back.
Four of our teams reached the finals at the Shay, the only Junior football club in Calderdale to do so. Our under tens team and under elevens team won their cup final.
As did the under fifteens with our under fourteens finishing runners up after valiantly fought extra time.
Then there was the little matter of the league where two of our teams finished top. Again no mean feat.
But let’s not forget our younger boys and girls. They are the future of the club, and it’s looking bright with the under sevens winning the Burnley Centre of Excellence tournament, the under eights winning the final of the Crossley tournament and the under nines runners up in the same competition.
Academically our teams are doing superbly but with a club as successful and expanding so fast like the Halifax Irish Juniors there has to be a solid team behind the scenes as well. This year we have a core of hard working dedicated individuals who are managing to keep this running smoothly. Our fund-raising committee have thought up some unusual ideas to finance and secure our future and now these ideas are coming to fruition with considerable success. The web-site has also had a large number of hits.
Teams aren’t just confined to the pitches and committee meetings, some of our parents are now getting together in what we hope will eventually form a strong social scene for the grown ups (Junior football isn’t just about kids).
A brilliant season and we haven’t really got into the tournaments yet. Good luck to all our teams entered.
Well done and many thanks to the players, managers, committee, web-site manager, sponsors and everyone who has worked so hard to make this season, and this club, the success it’s been.
Be very proud.
Regards;
Andy Bowers
